This recipe, inspired by an old Food & Wine magazine and brought to you by KB Table's Kelli Bunch, adds a touch of creative flair to traditional caviar appetizers. With its elegant presentation and rich layers, the Four-Layer Caviar Dip is a testament to culinary sophistication and indulgence.

Ingredients
-
6 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
-
1 cup of shallots, green or red onions (your choice)
-
6 oz whipped cream cheese
-
6 oz crème fraîche
-
⅓ cup chopped fresh chives or capers (your choice)
-
4 oz Paddlefish Roe
-
1 bag of chips, blinis, or just spoons (we use our Truffle Chips)
Directions
Begin by mixing the chopped eggs with 4 oz of cream cheese and 4 oz of crème fraîche. Grease a 6" ring mold with cooking spray and spoon the egg mixture onto the bottom, pressing it down to form a solid layer.
Spread a layer of shallots or onions over the egg mixture. This adds a subtle yet delightful crunch and flavor to the dip.
In a separate bowl, mix the chives or capers with the remaining cream cheese and crème fraîche. Spread this mixture on top of the shallots or onions to create a creamy, tangy layer that complements the other flavors beautifully.
The grand finale – delicately add the Black Caviar on top of the chive or caper mixture. The caviar’s luxurious, briny flavor is the perfect finishing touch to this elegant appetizer.
Refrigerate the terrine for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together. When you're ready to serve, unmold it onto a serving plate. This exquisite Four-Layer Caviar Dip can be enjoyed with your choice of chips, blinis, or elegantly savored with caviar spoons. The chilled dip ensures each layer remains distinct and flavorful, providing a delightful taste experience in every bite.
Recipe Note
If you don't have a ring mold, feel free to serve this delectable creation directly in your chosen container. It's the perfect way to elevate your appetizer game and leave a lasting impression on your guests. This alternative presentation still showcases the beautiful layers and makes serving even more convenient.
- The success of this dip relies on the quality of its components. Choose fresh eggs, premium caviar, and high-quality cream cheese and crème fraîche for the best results.
- Chilling the dip for at least 2 hours is crucial to allow the flavors to meld and the layers to set properly.
- Feel free to customize the layers to suit your taste. You can add a touch of lemon zest to the egg mixture or a dash of hot sauce to the chive or caper layer for an extra kick.
- Offer a selection of accompaniments such as blinis, gourmet crackers, or even vegetable sticks to provide different textures and flavors that complement the dip.
