Lobster Mushroom

The Lobster Mushroom, named for its vibrant reddish-orange color and seafood-like aroma, is a fascinating wild mushroom that can add a touch of coastal flavor to your dishes. Its firm and meaty texture is reminiscent of lobster, making it an excellent ingredient for seafood-inspired recipes.

Lobster Mushroom Roll

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Lobster mushrooms, cleaned and sliced

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning (or more to taste)

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • 4 New England-style split-top hot dog rolls

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add the sliced Lobster mushrooms and sprinkle the Old Bay seasoning over them. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are cooked and slightly golden.

  4. Season the mushrooms with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. While the mushrooms cook, lightly toast the split-top hot dog rolls.

  6. In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with a dash of Old Bay seasoning.

  7. To assemble, spread a generous amount of the Old Bay mayonnaise inside each toasted roll.

  8. Fill the rolls with the sautéed Lobster mushrooms.

  9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

  10. Serve the Lobster Mushroom Rolls with lemon wedges for a burst of citrusy freshness.
