Lion’s Mane mushrooms are prized for their tender, meaty texture and subtly sweet, delicate flavor, often compared to crab or lobster. When cooked, they develop a light crisp on the outside while remaining soft, juicy, and easily shreddable inside.
Their unique texture makes them incredibly versatile in the kitchen. They’re a standout in plant-based crab cakes, where they closely mimic the texture of lump crab, and equally impressive when torn and sautéed into a vegetarian “pulled pork” style sandwich — rich, savory, and deeply satisfying.
Ensure you wash the mushrooms thoroughly and cook them completely before eating. Do not consume raw mushrooms.

My husband and I went vegan this year and I saw these at HEB. I did not know about the crab cake recipe until I got home. Well the next day I made the crab cakes out of these Lion's Mane mushrooms and they are unbelievable. I want to make more but HEB won't have these mushrooms anymore. When I do find them and make them again, I will take a picture of them. I do wish you all had the recipes on your website for all the different mushrooms. I might need to drive to Houston just to visit the store.
